The 30-year-old’s maladies included a sore Achilles tendon, a deep shoulder bruise, and a groin strain. Last year the Royals drew 457 walks. There are currently about 450 Siberian tigers left in the wild. Anyone want to bet which ends up being more rare in 2010? This isn’t just wishful thinking, but I really think the Tiger is going to bounce back. Yuniesky Betancourt’s batting eye, not so much. Again, apologize for the non-political aside, but this stuff just makes me scratch my head.

Don’t poo-poo Ankiel just yet, little Miss Gammons! He was hurt last year, and scorching the ball a couple years ago. And, this IS the Royals after all. When the Holliday’s and Bay’s of the baseball world laugh then refuse to come over and play with you, you need to hope the cheap outcast is secretly really, really good…
Apologies for the non-political comment. Here’s something political… kinda: Where were all you “humanitarians” two weeks ago when Haitians were dying of plain ol’ economic causes? Is a slow, marinating-variety of suffering and death more acceptable? Or, did you need to be told that this was an appropriate “caring event?”
It’s pathetic how we need CNN to prompt us toward “humanity.”
